Excessive Rainfall in the Southern Plains, Ozarks, and Upper Midwest Thursday

Heavy to excessive rainfall may bring flash and urban flooding, along with isolated riverine flooding to a part of the Upper Midwest Thursday. Read More >

A stalled front will serve as the focus for strong to severe thunderstorms this evening, and heavy rainfall and potential flash flooding overnight.

Thunderstorms will develop over western Kentucky this afternoon, and could affect southern Indiana and central Kentucky this evening between 6pm and midnight. The main threat will be damaging winds, but isolated brief tornadoes can't be ruled out.

Once those storms move through, an axis of heavy rain will set up over southern Indiana, with over 2 inches of rainfall possible overnight. Areas that see the heaviest rainfall will be susceptible to flash flooding, which could be especially hazardous because it is more difficult to recognize at night.
