Severe Weather and Heavy Rainfall from the High Plains to the Ohio Valley; Heat Continuing in the Central Plains and Southeast

A stationary front will be the focus for daily showers and thunderstorms capable of widely scattered flash flooding and severe weather from the High Plains to the Ohio Valley. Monsoonal thunderstorms could cause local flash flooding across the Southwest and the Great Basin. Dangerous heat continues across the Central Plains and Southeast. Steve Blake sent us these photos of a shelf cloud in advance of a storm in Woodford County.  Shelf clouds are often the harbingers of strong winds and torrential rain.

Here is a radar picture showing the storm as it crossed northern Woodford County.  It had just dropped golf ball sized hail on the south side of Frankfort and would go on to drop golf ball sized hail on Georgetown, but no severe weather was reported by Woodford County to the National Weather Service.
