Tracking Storm System Across the Eastern U.S.

A storm system will continue to produce widespread showers and thunderstorms as it progresses eastward across the central U.S. into the Northeast through the weekend. There are risks of severe thunderstorms and excessive rainfall on Saturday from the Ozarks into the mid-Mississippi River Valley with potential for damaging winds, large hail, tornadoes, and flash flooding. The Metropolitan Sewage District (MSD) of Louisville is feeding hourly rainfall data to the National Weather Service in Louisville from their network of rain gauges. These gauges are spread throughout Jefferson and neighboring counties. These data are included in the daily morning rainfall maps. They are also listed below the Kentucky Mesonet data on the regional and state summaries that are issued shortly after 7AM and 7PM. In both cases the data will be a 24 hour accumulation ending at the top of the hour. Below is an example:
