Thunderstorms, some severe, will impact areas of the Plains into the Midwest today. Rainfall can be locally heavy as well from these storms with isolated instances of flash flooding. Notes: This weak tornado did tree damage as it briefly touched down along Mount Pleasant Road northwest of Bedford, snapping upper-level tree branches in a narrow path. Occupants of a mobile home witnessed the tornado as it approached from the west, and they took shelter in their bathroom. While a large tree next to their home crushed a pickup truck as it came down, their home sustained minimal damage.
