Widespread strong thunderstorms with damaging winds and locally heavy rain are expected from the Upper Ohio Valley into the southern Mid-Atlantic today and portions of the central Appalachians and Carolinas on Saturday. Narrative: Two large factory buildings and a warehouse at the American Car and Foundry plant were destroyed in Jeffersonville, halting production of much-needed naval artillery. Slight roof damage occurred at the corner of Walnut and Court Streets. The damage was surveyed by the chief of the Louisville weather station, E. E. Unger.
