Dangerous Heat and Possible Flooding

Dangerous heat will persist across the Southwest U.S. through Saturday with daytime highs of 110-115°F. Extreme Heat Warnings remain in effect. The National Weather Service in Louisville, KY, is welcoming a new meteorologist to our office, Chase Graham! Chase comes to us from North Carolina, and he earned a Masters Degree from NC State. His thesis was on the verification of high resolution models and how they handle high shear and low instability environments, a common feature in our region, especially in the winter time. With his studies at UNC Asheville, Chase worked on the VORTEX-SE field project conducting ground-based and aerial damage surveys to better understand the connections built and natural environments, and how this affects the level of tornado damage in a community. We are excited to see how Chase uses his skills to forecast for southern IN and central KY.
