Elevated Fire Weather Threats for California; Cold Across Upper Midwest with Snow in Central Rockies

Unfortunately, elevated fire weather threats return this weekend for parts of California, as gusty offshore winds increase. Meanwhile, a large cold dome of surface high pressure will keep high temperatures 20 to 30 degrees below average across the Upper Midwest and down the High Plains. Overview

A severe weather outbreak occurred on February 28th and lasted into the early morning hours of March 1st 2017.  Four tornadoes were documented to have occurred in the National Weather Service St. Louis County Warning Area, including a portion of the long track tornado that caused damage north of Perryville, MO.   Hail and wind reports were noted with many of the storms.  To view the damage surveys and download data in KML formate please visit this site: https://apps.dat.noaa.gov/StormDamage/DamageViewer/
