Tornado formed over Lincoln County, MO and crossed the Mississippi River and tracked just NW of Hardin before crossing into Greene County.  Two people were killed near Hardin.  The tornado killed a total of 11, injured 63, and caused $450,000 in its track from Lincoln County, MO to Sangamon County, IL.

The Illinois State Police reported that a small tornado struck the Belleview area about 420 pm. Numerous trees were snapped off or uprooted along Sterns Hollow Road. One home had minor damage caused by flying tree limbs. The tornado moved ENE and struck again along Johnson Hollow Road. Numerous trees were downed, one garage was destroyed, and a couple of homes suffered minor roof damage.

The Annada, MO tornado crossed the Mississippi River west of Mozier and continued northeast for about 9 miles across Calhoun County, IL. The tornado reached a maximum intensity of F2 with a damage path up to 100 yards wide. The tornado first damaged a home as it crossed Highway 96 north of Mozier. A 2 car garage was destroyed, the porch destroyed and several windows were blown out. The tornado moved northeast up West Panther Creek Hollow where it reached F2 intensity. One home was destroyed with only 2 walls left standing. 2 x 4 boards became missiles with several driven into walls and into the ground. Half of the roof of another nearby home was also blown off. 3 other homes suffered minor damage. Several outbuildings were also destroyed and numerous trees were uprooted along the path.

A small tornado formed north of Mozier, north of the Annada tornado, and tracked east northeast along Belleview Hollow. An 80 foot long hog sleeping station was destroyed along with a utility shed. This was the second year in a row that this hog farm had been hit by a tornado. The tornado also damaged a barn, several other utility buildings and a home at another farm. Flying metal injured a horse at the farm as well.

A brief weak tornado struck just southeast of Centerville. The path length was only about one tenth of a mile and 25 yards wide. Debris at the location consisted of snapped and uprooted trees and a destroyed shed. Several boards from the shed were driven into the ground some distance away.

A long track tornado that eventually hit Springfield, IL started as a small tornado over northern Calhoun County near the intersection of Hillcrest and Belleview Road on Farmers Ridge, or about 5 miles northwest of Kampsville. The tornado damaged a machine shed, one other smaller outbuilding and downed a few large trees. The tornado also caused damage along Highway 100 near the Illinois River. A barn was damaged and a number of large trees downed. The damage was rated F0. The tornado then crossed into extreme southeast Pike County.

The Montgomery, Lincoln and Pike County, Missouri tornado crossed the Mississippi River south southeast of Mozier and continued to 3 miles west of Kampsville. Damage was limited to snapped and uprooted trees.

Severe thunderstorms developed ahead of a strong cold front, triggering numerous showers and thunderstorms. A number of tornadoes were reported as well as damaging winds and large hail.   A tornado touched down three miles north northwest of Mozier in the Calhoun County conservation area called Rip Rap Landing. It crossed Illinois Route 96 near West Panther Creek Road and then traveled northeast crossing Hootowl Hollow Road before dissipating just west of Hillcrest. Damage was confined to uprooted trees.
