Active Weather Pattern for the West into the Plains

A strong Pacific storm continues to track across the Great Basin. Heavy snow is expected across the higher elevations and heavy rain across lower terrain. Strong gusty winds will make for additional hazards for travelers. These winds will bring increasing fire weather concerns for the southern High Plains. Educational Goals - Damaging Wind Groups 
blueball.gif (205 bytes) Conduct educational - training seminars locally and with staff members at WFOs across the midwest as a means of sharing reseach findings from the Cooperative.

Work with professors-students from Saint Louis University Meteorology Department on COMET applied research activities. Share observations - insights in the areas of pre-convective / non-going convective environments; storm-reflectivity / Doppler radar structures as viewed from the WSR-88D Doppler radar.

Participate at various conferences, regional workshops - symposiums to share results from the project.

Publish conference papers and journal articles as a means to document research results.
