Severe Weather and Heavy Rain from the Ohio Valley to the Mid-Atlantic; Heat Persists in the South-Central U.S.

Widespread strong thunderstorms with damaging winds and locally heavy rain are expected across portions of the Ohio Valley into southern Mid-Atlantic and Carolinas. Rounds of strong thunderstorms are expected to develop across the northern and central Plains. The National Weather Service Office in St. Louis has the responsibility of maintaining a 24 hour weather watch over an area that stretches from central Missouri to near the Iowa border, east into west central Illinois, and into portions of southeast Missouri.  The area includes 29 counties in Missouri and 17 in Illinois.
