Frigid Cold in the East; Snow Continues in the Great Lakes

A frigid cold airmass will continue to bring colder weather across the eastern two thirds of the country early this week. Record low temperatures are expected to be tied or broken across the Southeast and Florida. Periods snow will continue downwind of the Great Lakes and in portions of interior New England through Tuesday afternoon, with several inches of snowfall accumulation expected. Read More >

Overview

Heavy rain impacted portions of South Florida during the early morning hours on Monday, December 23rd. The greatest rain amounts fell across northeast Miami-Dade County and southeast Broward County. Significant and impactful flooding affected the Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Hallandale Beach, and Dania Beach areas with localized rain totals exceeding 12 inches. Numerous roads were impassable and the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL) International Airport ceased operations for several hours due to flooding on the premises.  Flooding continued impacting several roads across the area into Monday afternoon and evening.
