Key Points

  • Severe Drought (D2) continues across Racine, Kenosha and eastern Walworth Counties.
  • Some slight improvement in Moderate Drought (D1) from Iowa to western Waukesha counties along Highway 14 and I-94 corridors.
  • Drought conditions developed in April and have persisted through the summer and continue into the fall.
  • Drought conditions have eased over the past several weeks in some areas due to near normal rainfall over the past month, but 3 to 6 month precipitation deficits continue to drive drought conditions.
  • Repeated rounds of rainfall over the course of the next several weeks will be required to end drought conditions in the area.
