August and Summer 2026 Climate Summary

With August coming to an end, this also marks the end to meteorological summer and the start to meteorological fall. Below are summaries of both time periods, followed by a summary of severe weather (tornado, damaging winds, and hail of 1" or greater) for the summer compared to averages going back to 2005. The early part of the summer was quieter, followed by a much more active period at the end. The total was only slightly above the average but still more than all but one of the last 10 years.
