Abundant monsoon moisture and widespread showers and thunderstorms will result in the potential for heavy rainfall and localized flooding today focused mainly across southeast California and southwest Arizona. A Flood Watch has been issued for portions of the area for this afternoon and evening with localized rainfall amounts of 1-2".
Thunderstorm activity will increase across the region today, lasting into at least Tuesday. Chance for storms will be around 40-70% today and then around 30-50% Tuesday. Expect localized strong winds, areas of blowing dust, and flash flooding potential to be greatest today, and to a lesser extent on Tuesday.
Strong thunderstorm outflow winds of 40+ mph this afternoon and early evening are likely to kick up blowing dust and impact portions of southern and south-central Arizona. Visibilities of less than one mile will be possible across at least Pima, Pinal, and southern Maricopa Counties.
Temperatures will begin to cool starting today with highs across most of the lower deserts mostly ranging from 98-105° throughout the work week. Precipitation chances are mostly confined to earlier half of the week as the region will begin to dry by mid week. Best chances for precipitation will be Today and Tuesday (40-70%).
