Hurricane Erin Moving Away from the North Carolina Coast, Dangerous Surf & Rip Currents Continue; Hazardous Heat out West

Tropical storm conditions, storm surge flooding and coastal flooding continue today across the Outer Banks and portions of the Mid-Atlantic coast. SUBJECT: Change to Moderate and Major Flood Stages for ADLC2, Arkansas River near Avondale.


 

Recent flood assessments and coordination with local emergency management have concluded raising Moderate Flood Stage from 8.0 to 10.0 feet and Major Flood Stage from 9.0 to 12.0 feet will provide better representation and communication of impacts associated with Minor, Moderate, and Major flooding along the Arkansas River in the vicinity of Avondale, CO. This change will be effective March 4, 2024. River observations and forecasts for the Arkansas River near Avondale (ADLC2) can be found on the NWS Pueblo AHPS web site and, effective March 27, 2024, on the NWPS web site.
