Increasing temperatures are coming to Southeast Arizona. Extreme Heat Warning in effect for Thursday through Sunday. Unseasonable heat for March!
Well above normal temperature forecast this week. High temperatures push into the low 100s by Wednesday for western cities. An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect from Thursday through Sunday. Now is the time to prepare, stay hydrated, limit time outside and learn to recognize the signs of heat illness.
Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. In an emergency, call 911!
As we approach an unseasonably hot week, remember that your body may not be acclimated to these temperatures yet. Stay Safe: Do: Hydrate with water/electrolytes and wear light-colored clothing. Don’t: Leave children or pets in a vehicle—not even for a minute. Plan: Shift strenuous outdoor activities to the early morning or after sunset. Preparation is the best defense against heat-related illness.
How are you going to prepare for the heat? Here are some recommendations on how to deal with the upcoming heat wave! Avoid outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day. Drink plenty of water! Take frequent breaks in air conditioning. Learn to recognize heat illness. Heat strokes is an emergency call 911! Eat and dress light. Look before you lock! Never leave a child or pet in the car for any period of time.
