Overview

On the afternoon of June 22, 2026, a supercell thunderstorm  developed near the Bighorn Mountains and tracked southeast through Campbell County, Wyoming. The storm produced multiple severe hazards between Savageton and Wright before moving into Converse County.

  • Tornado: An EF-2 tornado touched down near Savageton at approximately 231 PM MDT, with peak winds of 115 mph.
  • Damaging Winds: Strong downdraft winds west-northwest of Savageton where an 81 mph wind gust was recorded.
  • Large Hail: Reports included hail up to the size of golf balls.
