Unsettled Weather in the Eastern U.S. through Memorial Day

Wet, stormy, and unsettled weather continues for much of the eastern half of the U.S. through Memorial Day. There is potential for scattered flash flooding across the Central Gulf Coast into North Georgia and across the Upper Ohio Valley. Below is a listing of the climate records on Veterans Day for Rapid City, Gillette, Lead, Winner, Lemmon, Sundance, Spearfish, Newcastle, Hot Springs, and Custer, as well as the weather in downtown Rapid City and Gillette on the past 10 Veterans Days. Average high temperatures are generally in the 40s, while record highs have reached the upper 60s and 70s. Record lows have been in the single digits to teens below zero.

Veterans Day in 2023 was one of the warmest in the last decade, with highs generally in the 50s.
