Heat and Fire Weather Concerns for the Center of the Nation; Coastal Impacts Across the East

Excessive heat returns for portions of the Plains today where heat indices will likely climb above the century mark. Furthermore, warm temperatures, strong winds and dry fuels may result in rapid spread of wild fires across the western High Plains today. Storms.
There is a low to medium risk of severe storms Saturday afternoon and early evening, mainly over Southeast New Mexico. Any severe storms that do develop will be accompanied by damaging winds and/or large hail and/or an isolated tornado.
A cold front will intrude upon West Texas and Southeast New Mexico Sunday and Sunday night. Severe storms are possible ahead of the front Saturday, followed by more storms along the front Sunday and Monday.
