Record Breaking Snow Storm April 16, 2007

A record snowstorm of 11.7 inches occurred at the National Weather Service Office located at the Greater Binghamton Airport on Monday, April 16th. The previous record snowstorm was 11.5 inches set on April 9th, 1960. This snowstorm will go down as one of the greatest April snowstorms on record for Central New York and Northeast Pennsylvania, where 1 to 2 feet of snow was common. The snow was heavy and wet in nature and brought down many trees and power lines as winds gusted over 40 mph.
