...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS
AFTERNOON TO 1 AM EST SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations
of 6 to 12 inches in the most persistent lake effect bands. Wind
gusts as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Hamilton and Northern Herkimer Counties.

* WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 1 AM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and
blowing snow. Travel could be difficult.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The lake effect snow band will set up across
areas along and north of Route 28 late this afternoon into this
evening before slowly dropping southward tonight into Friday
morning. Additional upslope snow showers will continue through
Friday afternoon before tapering off Friday night.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can
also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,
visibility, and road conditions.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations
of 6 to 12 inches in the most persistent lake effect bands. Wind
gusts as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Southern Herkimer County.

* WHEN...From 1 AM Friday to 7 AM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and
blowing snow. Travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions
could impact Thanksgiving holiday travel.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The lake effect band is expected to drop
south into southern Herkimer County late tonight into Friday
morning. It will then set up around or south of the Thruway into
Friday night before diminishing early Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
conditions could impact Thanksgiving holiday travel.
