Heavy Rain in the Mid-Atlantic; Severe Thunderstorms in the Northern Plains; Critical Fire in the West

Locally heavy rain and flash flooding will be possible today into tonight near the Mid-Atlantic/Carolina coast. Storms with large hail and severe wind gusts are expected across parts of the central and northern Plains into the upper Mississippi Valley. Overview

A storm system tracked east from the northern plains into Iowa Sunday, Feb 14th bringing widespread snow to the region.  Most of the snow fell during the morning hours.  Dry and fluffy snow was seen with amounts generally between 2 and 4 inches across the area.  Breezy southeast winds were also common and combined with the snow, brought visibilties down to a quarter of a mile or less at times.
