Tropical Storm and Storm Surge Warnings for the North Carolina Outer Banks; Heat Building in the West

Storm surge flooding and tropical storm conditions are expected in the Outer Banks beginning late Wednesday. Tropical Storm and Storm Surge Warnings are in effect. Tropical storm conditions are possible along the eastern shore of Virginia Thursday. We have redesigned our home page for the first time in several years. This was done for improved stability (new hardware that allows for better access during high-impact weather events), and less confusion when viewing pages from different offices (which may not have the same items placed in the same areas). All offices in the central U.S. are being transitioned at the same time. NWS offices in the east made the transition a couple years ago, and the southern and western offices will transition in the future as well.
