National Weather Service United States Department of Commerce

Hotter weather is in store today as an upper level high pressure ridge builds in from the west. Rain chances will be confined to the southeast counties and mainly this afternoon. A weak front will do little but bring slightly drier air north of the I-20 corridor.
Warm and humid conditions are expected overnight with lows in the mid 70s to around 80. Thunderstorms may develop late along a stationary front as an upper level disturbance moves over the area, a few of which could be strong and contain gusty winds and frequent lightning.
The heat will really turn on Friday afternoon, with highs in the mid- upper 90s east, 99-102 degrees west. The humidity will result in heat index values (what it feels like) anywhere from 99 to 108 degrees. Isolated thunderstorms may occur near the immediate Red River Valley, but will do little to quell the heat. Remember to to stay hydrated and limit your time outdoors and exposure to the heat!
The heat will continue on Saturday with highs in the mid-upper 90s east, 99-105 degrees west. The humidity will result in heat index values (what it feels like) anywhere from 100 to 108 degrees. Remember , prolonged activity in this excessive heat can lead to heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Avoid outdoor activity during the heat of the day. If you must participate in outdoor activity, drink plenty of water and take plenty of breaks in shaded and/or air conditioned areas.
Hot days coming up... Be sure to know the terminology and don't forget these heat safety rules. For additional information check out this heat safety website: www.weather.gov/heat
Scattered thunderstorms will develop near a stationary front late Saturday afternoon and possibly form into a storm complex Saturday night. This complex would move southeast and could bring a few strong to severe storms to those parts of North Texas north of Interstates 20/30 overnight. The highest coverage of storms is expected to remain north across Oklahoma. Primary hazards are expected to be very gusty downburst winds, hail, and frequent lightning.
