Showers and storms will continue moving southward this evening. If they hold together, they'll move into the immediate Metroplex during the 9-11 PM timeframe. Severe weather is not expected, but gusty winds and small hail will be possible with the strongest storms.
Showers and storms will develop along a weak cold front across Oklahoma early this evening. This activity will have a chance of moving south of the Red River this evening. Locally heavy rainfall, gusty winds and lighting will be the primary hazards. Otherwise, scattered showers will linger across the eastern counties through the overnight hours.
Thursday will be a few degrees warmer with chances for thunderstorms mostly east of I-35 in the afternoon. A few storms could become strong, capable of gusty winds.
Hot weather will return this weekend with forecast highs in the mid to upper 90s each day. Humid conditions will result in heat index values of 102 to 107 degrees during the afternoon hours. Prolonged activity in this excessive heat can lead to heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Avoid outdoor activity during the heat of the day. If you must participate in outdoor activity, drink plenty of water and take plenty of breaks in shaded and/or air conditioned areas.
Hot days coming up... Be sure to know the terminology and don't forget these heat safety rules. For additional information check out this heat safety website: www.weather.gov/heat
Scattered thunderstorms will develop near a stationary front late Saturday afternoon and possibly form into a storm complex Saturday night. This complex would move southeast and could bring a few strong storms to parts of North Texas overnight.
