Dangerous Heat and Heavy Rainfall into the Weekend

Hot temperatures and high humidity are forecast to continue across the mid-Mississippi Valley into this weekend. Heat Advisories remain in effect. Heavy to excessive rainfall occurring at times through the weekend could bring areas of flooding to parts of the northern Rockies, upper Midwest, central Great Lakes, and southern New England. 2023 Monthly Weather Data/Annual Extremes for Grand Island, Hastings, and Kearney: 

Although 2023 was modestly-warmer-than-normal at all three official airport weather stations, precipitation was certainly more variable. Kearney was the wettest of the three sites by far (actually slightly ABOVE normal with 26.95"), while Grand Island was notably drier (merely 16.52").
