NORMAL AND TEMPERATURES WERE SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL DURING AUGUST  
2015.  
 
RAINFALL: THE MONTHLY TOTAL OF ONLY 1.24 INCHES WAS ONLY 40 PERCENT  
OF THE 30-YEAR NORMAL OF 3.12". MOST OF THIS RAIN (1.02") FELL  
DURING THE FIRST NINE DAYS OF THE MONTH...AS THE LATTER TWO-THIRDS  
OF THE MONTH BECAME PARTICUARLY DRY.  
 
TEMPERATURES: FOR THE MONTH AS A WHOLE...IT WAS SLIGHTLY COOLER THAN  
NORMAL AS THE MEAN MONTHLY TEMPERATURE (BASED ON THE AVERAGE OF  
DAILY HIGHS AND LOWS) WAS 72.3 DEGREES...OR 1.7 DEGREES BELOW THE 30-  
YEAR NORMAL. THE OVERALL-HOTTEST WEEK OF THE MONTH WAS CENTERED  
BETWEEN THE 9TH-15TH...DURING WHICH FIVE OF SEVEN DAYS REACHED AT  
LEAST 87 DEGREES. IN CONTRAST...THE OVERALL-COOLEST WEEK OF THE

MODESTLY BELOW NORMAL DURING AUGUST 2015.  
 
RAINFALL: THE MONTHLY TOTAL OF 2.15 INCHES WAS ONLY 65 PERCENT OF  
THE 30-YEAR NORMAL OF 3.30". THE VAST MAJORITY OF THIS RAIN (2.05")  
FELL DURING THE FIRST EIGHT DAYS OF THE MONTH...AS THE LATTER TWO-  
THIRDS OF THE MONTH BECAME NOTICEABLY DRY. OVER HALF OF THE TOTAL  
AUGUST RAINFALL (1.40") FELL JUST ON THE 7TH-8TH.
