Major Winter Storm to Impact the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast; Inclement Weather in the Pacific Northwest

A major winter storm is expected to bring heavy snow, strong winds, and coastal flooding across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast that may cause impossible travel conditions and power outages. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has identified an area of marginal severe weather threat across northeast Utah and northwest Colorado Friday afternoon. They indicated the potential for some thunderstorms firing along and ahead of an approaching cold front may be capable of generating wind gusts of 60 mph or higher and some hail. Storms may develop as early as noon, but the greatest coverage and intensity will be between 4-9 pm. Stay tuned for further updates on this potential severe weather threat.
