Climate

Another day with shower and storm chances is forecast Saturday afternoon and into the evening. Low to medium (20-40%) chances are expected over northwest Alabama and into north-central Alabama, with medium to high (40-80%) chances for the remainder of the area. Heavy rain, lightning, and some gusty winds will all be threats with any stronger storm. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Get ready for cooler temperatures... back into the 80s for most locations this weekend into early next week! Even cooler temperatures (into the 70s) are anticipated for the higher terrain in northeast Alabama and portions of southern middle Tennessee. In addition, daily chances of showers and storms are expected as well, peaking during the afternoon and early evening hours.

Here are the official, recorded heat indices for the entire month of July for Huntsville from the surface station at the Huntsville Airport. One thing to note - although the 28th and 29th both recorded a heat index of 111°, July 29th was technically the hotter day with a high of 99° (July 28th had a high of 98°).
