Prolonged Atmospheric River in the Pacific Northwest; Snow and High Winds from the Upper Midwest into the Northeast

A prolonged atmospheric river will continue to impact the Pacific Northwest into the Northern Rockies with heavy rainfall, areas of urban and river flooding, landslides, heavy mountain snow, and gusty winds into Thursday. The National Weather Service in Huntsville welcomes tours of our facility on a first come, first served basis. Tours must be scheduled well in advance to allow for sufficient staffing. Tours are normally conducted by forecasters who work rotating shifts, with different days off each week.

The minimum age for children on a tour is nine years old or the third grade level. Groups with children younger than nine years of age are welcome to arrange an outside school talk. Due to staffing limitations, there must be a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 30 in a group.

Office tours will generally last 20 to 30 minutes and will provide an informative overview of the office.Tours will be canceled if hazardous whether is ongoing, therefore a contact name and phone number is required when arranging a tour.  If you would like to arrange a tour please e-mail our education outreach team.
