Tracking Major Hurricane Erin; Hot in the Mid-Mississippi Valley

Major Hurricane Erin is tracking just north of the lower Bahamas today. Dangerous surf and rip current threats increase this week for most of the Atlantic coastline. Erin's outerbands may impact the Outer Banks later this week. The National Weather Service in Huntsville welcomes tours of our facility on a first come, first served basis. Tours must be scheduled well in advance to allow for sufficient staffing. Tours are normally conducted by forecasters who work rotating shifts, with different days off each week.

The minimum age for children on a tour is nine years old or the third grade level. Groups with children younger than nine years of age are welcome to arrange an outside school talk. Due to staffing limitations, there must be a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 30 in a group.

Office tours will generally last 20 to 30 minutes and will provide an informative overview of the office.Tours will be canceled if hazardous whether is ongoing, therefore a contact name and phone number is required when arranging a tour.  If you would like to arrange a tour please e-mail our education outreach team.
