Overview

Slow moving upper level low pressure system lifted out of the desert southwest during the day on January 11th. Unseasonably rich moisture streamed north across the southern Plains and set the stage for widespread heavy snow. The highest snow totals generally fell along and just north of Interstate 70, from just east of Goodland, to Salina with Kansas City and St. Louis picking up some of the higher amounts.
