Overview
|
A very dynamic weather pattern setup by the afternoon hours of Thursday April 23rd. Both a cold front and dryline made their way into central Kansas along with very rich moisture. Storms first developed along the cold front as it sagged into central Kansas. These storms produced very large hail with a few the size of baseballs and softballs, especially across Marion County. As the front became nearly stationary, the storms developing on the front started to produce landspout tornadoes, with several reports across eastern Harvey, southern Marion, northwest Butler and northeast Sedgwick county. These brief tornadoes did not cause any injuries or significant damage. Further south across northern Oklahoma, storms eventually developed on the dryline with a couple of these storms producing damaging tornadoes. These storms stayed south of the Oklahoma/Kansas state line. |
