Overview

A strong cold front moved through most of Kansas on Saturday June 13th and spawned widespread storms as it encountered a very unstable airmass. As these storms quickly pushed south, they produced damaging straight-line winds into the evening hours. There were numerous reports of winds in the 65-80 mph range throughout the area.

At the same time, a supercell thunderstorm developed just south of the Kansas-Oklahoma border with a left moving supercell splitting off from this cell and tracking northeast toward Winfield. This storm produced extremely large hail with a few stones reported as large as softballs!
