1912   The heaviest 1 and 2 two day snowfalls for the period of record began early in the morning and by 8 AM 4 inches blanketed the ground. By evening, nearly a foot and a half of snow had fallen. The weight of it caused many small buildings to collapse. The snowstorm eventually knocked out the streetcar system. The snowstorm was not widespread. Topeka received 12 inches of snow, but St. Joseph had only an inch.

1899   A whopping 141 inches of snow fell in Ruby, CO between the 23rd and 30th to establish the state record for greatest snowfall from a single storm.

1913   An F4 tornado hit Omaha, NE at 5:45 pm killing a total of 101 and injuring 350 people. The tornado killed 7 people at Ralston, and then hit Omaha, killing another 94. The same day another F4 tornado made a path through Indiana including Terre Haute. This tornado killed 21.
