Well above normal temperatures are forecast to shift from the northern Plains through the Northeast U.S. over the long holiday weekend. A few strong to severe thunderstorm will be possible as well along with a potential for excessive rainfall. Happy Independence Day! Seasonably hot and sunny weather is expected today with highs of 90-95 degrees in valley areas, and the upper 80s atop the higher elevations of the Cumberland Plateau. Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Have a safe and enjoyable holiday!
Dry weather will continue through Sunday with shower and thunderstorm chances returning Monday. Seasonably hot temperatures are expected. For those with outdoor activities, make sure to be safe and remember heat safety - drink plenty of water, take breaks in the shade, and never leave children or pets in cars!
