On April 1, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers deployed a wave monitoring buoy 10 nautical miles due south of Bahia Honda Key. The buoy reports local ocean wave conditions every 30 minutes. Data from this buoy will really help our Florida Keys National Weather Service marine forecasters improve both the quality and value of marine weather analyses, warnings, and forecasts.
To view the data from this new buoy, visit the National Data Buoy Center's website for Buoy 42078: http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=42078
