Children's Mardi Gras Stroll - The City of Lake Charles’ 2026 Children’s Mardi Gras Stroll returns on Saturday, February 14 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The parade, which debuted in 2022, is a walking parade designed specifically for children ages 3-12. Children are encouraged to decorate their Mardi Gras umbrellas and prepare to show off their Mardi Gras spirit! Registration will begin at 9 AM and line-up will begin at 9:30 AM at the Lakefront Promenade. There is no fee to enter. Young revelers will meet on the North side of Millennium Park then parade down Gill Street to Bord Du Lac and return to Millennium Park. Streets will be closed down allowing children to strut to the tunes of the Second Line Stroll. Lunde Gras Boucherie - Lakeview Park - Eunice, LA. The best way to taste Louisiana is at an old-time boucherie. The Lundi Gras Boucherie features dishes prepared by Acadiana’s best chefs. The event takes place every year in Eunice, Louisiana on the Monday before Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday. This long-running tradition began as a way to survive the winter months with plenty of meat. Today, it is a community celebration that begins early in the morning with the butchering of the hog. The meat is then prepared for dishes such as boudin, boudin rouge, cracklins, backbone stew, and ponce. Iowa Chicken Run - Catch a chicken at the annual Mardi Gras Run on Tuesday, February 17 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 503 E Highway 90, in the town of Iowa. Doors open at 8 a.m., the Mardi Gras floats start lining up at 9 a.m. and the parade rolls at 10 a.m. The parade goes west on Hwy 90 stopping at local businesses and continues going through neighborhoods with the horses following behind. The captain blows his whistle at participating homes for the crews to get down and dance to zydeco music, which is played with an accordion and scrub board. If the families approve the dancing skills, they donate ingredients to the gumbo, and a chicken is thrown into the air. Sometimes the captain will throw multiple chickens in the air several times or more for the children to catch. The parade stops at Market Basket and the VF Factory Outlet where more chickens are released into the air. The parade then ends back at the KC Hall. The ingredients are then put into a pot with the chickens, and gumbo is served to the riders while the children play from 2-4 p.m. The chicken run concludes with a zydeco dance with music by Rusty Metoyer & the Zydeco Krush at 5 p.m. Click for Event Forecast

Imperial Mardi Gras Parade - The Opelousas Mardi Gras Parade marches through downtown Opelousas, Louisiana starting near Le Vieux Village Heritage Park. The parade continues down East Landry Street past well-known restaurants like Mama’s Fried Chicken. The Mardi Gras celebration continues past the oaks of the Courtyard Square until it turns right on Liberty and returns on Bellevue.In conjunction with the parade, the Mystic Krewe of Fur Babies, which hosts a parade for dogs, will take place just prior to the parade event. Zyde Gras on the Square - On February 17, it’s time for the 3rd annual Zyde Gras on the Square in Opelousas, Louisiana. This Mardi Gras celebration features zydeco legend, Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band. Frank will be performing under the oaks at the St. Landry Parish Courthouse Square immediately following the Opelousas Imperial Mardi Gras Parade.
