Subject: Change to River Forecast Service Locations along the Sabine
River affecting Newton County Texas and Vernon Parish Louisiana.

Effective at 1200 Coordinated Universal Time on Friday October
20th 2023, the National Weather Service will lower the flood
stages to match at the Burkeville Station (BRVT2) to align better
with the other stations along the Sabine River and provide
earlier flood warnings to those just below Toledo Bend Dam. The
new flood categories will be will be available on the internet at
https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=lch&gage=brvt2
and through all standard NWS dissemination methods.

The following flood stages will have to be changed to reflect the new criteria:

Action Stage            From 38 ft to 30 ft
Minor flood stage       From 43 ft to 36 ft
Moderate flood stage    From 45 ft to 40 ft
Major flood stage       From 47 ft to 44 ft

These new flood stages and categories will be referenced in flood
warnings, flood statements, and flood advisories for this
location.
