Active Weather Pattern Across the Northwestern and Central U.S.

Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected to develop across portions of the central and northern High Plains Sunday afternoon and linger into Sunday evening. Severe winds, large to very large hail and heavy rain will be possible. Severe Weather Event of June 24, 2020

 

Two mesoscale cycloncic vortex systems (MCVs) produced several severe thunderstorms across the area from early morning through the mid afternoon hours of Wednesday June 24, 2020. There were several tornadoes reported with these severe thunderstorms as they moved across the area. The most significant tornadoes impacted the Baton Rouge area, the Salem area of Walthall County, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

8 tornadoes have been confirmed from this event. These tornadoes have been determined to range in strength from EF0 to EF1 after NWS storm surveys were conducted.
