The first tornado touched down at the Hidden Hollow Construction Company on Double Springs Road near KY 605, three and a half miles south of Nelson County High School. The tornado demolished much of the construction shop. The shop consisted of three separate buildings all connected and having metal siding. The middle building, which was 60 feet by 100 feet, was completely gone and about 75% of the adjacent building was destroyed. The third building had lesser damage. Debris, such as insulation and metal sheeting, was blown 3/4 mile downwind. A few trees were uprooted and trailers were rolled. About 500 yards downwind of the construction company a single-wide trailer was knocked off its foundation and destroyed. There were four people in the trailer and two of them were hurt (one with a broken arm and another with serious abrasions). The trailer rolled over two cars parked next to it, significantly damaging the vehicles. Nearby trees were snapped and uprooted.
The second tornado touched down amidst a swath of powerful straight-line winds. Near 6130 Nelsonville Road metal sheeting was found in a yard and along a line of trees from a nearby outbuilding that was destroyed. On Nelsonville Loop there was tree damage at a home as well as a silo that had its top half knocked out. Just east of Nelsonville on Patton Road there were a number of trees uprooted by straight-line winds. However, about half a mile east of Nelsonville there was tree damage consistent with that of a small tornado. At 1900 Manton Road (KY 605 south of US 150) the entire roof was blown off of one side of a house and an outbuilding was significantly damaged. A trailer was flipped and rolled, and shingles were torn off the house next door.
