Dangerous Heat and Heavy Rainfall into the Weekend

Hot temperatures and high humidity are forecast to continue across the mid-Mississippi Valley into this weekend. Heat Advisories remain in effect. Heavy to excessive rainfall occurring at times through the weekend could bring areas of flooding to parts of the northern Rockies, upper Midwest, central Great Lakes, and southern New England. Unfortunately we are no longer able to generate the temperature and precipitation maps with the method we have been using for the past several years. We are working on finding another way to produce these maps each day.

In the meantime, check the "News Headlines" section at the top of our main web page on days that a precipitation map is generated (using a method we're currently experimenting with). We usually post the maps sometime between 11am and noon Eastern Time when precipitation has occurred over approximately the previous 24 hours.
