Great Lakes Snow through Friday; High Winds in the Northern and Central Plains

A clipper storm will drop south from Canada today bringing wintry weather from the Upper Midwest to the Great Lakes through Friday. The first tornado touched down on Pleasant Drive about two miles southeast of Springfield.  The tornado was embedded within straight-line wind damage and caused a roof to be blown off a house.  The roof was blown about 125 yards downwind.  Several pine trees were snapped and small outbuildings were destroyed.  A 14" pine tree was snapped and moved about 45 yards downwind as well. 

The second tornado touched down on Russell Lane about eight miles east-northeast of Springfield.  The tornado completely blew away a large, well-constructed out-building.  Six-by-six inch posts were snapped and piled up, while metal sheeting was blown about a quarter of a mile away.  Concrete joists weighing two hundred pounds were displaced.
