Cold Front Moving Through the Northeast U.S. Monday; Atmospheric River to Impact the Pacific Northwest Midweek

A cold front will cross the Great Lakes and Northeast U.S. through Monday with gusty winds and areas of rain showers. A strong atmospheric river is expected to move into the Pacific Northwest by midweek bringing a threat for moderate to heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and mountain snows for parts of Washington, Oregon, northern California, and the Sierra Nevada. 2022 Update: There have been two tornadic events in May which have been updated by NWS Twin Cities and NWS La Crosse. The first was on May 9th when 4 tornadoes occurred in the NWS Twin Cities area in west central/northwest Wisconsin. 3 EF-0s and 1 EF-1 tornado occurred in these areas. The EF-1 tornado by Cedar Falls in Dunn county was on the ground for over 9 miles. On May 19th, there was a brief EF-0 tornado in Monroe county near Sparta. This brings the 2022 Wisconsin tornado count to 6. -TH
