Event Overview

A cold front swept through southern Wisconsin during the overnight hours Sunday, June 26. This brought some much-needed rainfall for many locations across the forecast area. Many of the rainfall amounts we received were 1 to 2 inches, with some locations seeing over 3 inches of rainfall. Some sub-severe thunderstorms did develop in the very early morning hours. In Watertown, wind gusts estimated to 40 MPH and several 6-8" diameter tree branches fell, along with nickel size hail (0.88" in diameter). This all occurred at around 12:30 AM CDT Sunday morning.

The primary band of rain moved into the Milwaukee/Sullivan forecast area near 2 AM CDT, and moved eastward, eventually moving out over Lake Michigan by around 9 AM CDT.
