Dangerous Heat Continues in the East; Heavy Rain and Flash Flooding in the Southwest, Plains, and Upper Midwest

Prolonged and intense heat wave continues into Friday with relief expected by this weekend. The most significant cumulative heat impacts are anticipated across the Mid-Atlantic through Thursday and eastern Ohio Valley through Friday. Thunderstorms and heavy rain will continue to bring a flash flood threat over portions of the central Plains, Midwest, northern Great Lakes, and the Southwest. Read More >

Oppressive heat this week. Limit time outdoors, wear light colored clothing, drink frequent water and take breaks if outdoors. Heat Advisory has been extended into Thursday for the southern and central Tennessee valley, and the southern Plateau.
Hot and muggy continues will continue through Thursday, with heat index values from the upper 90s to 105 degrees. Afternoon showers and storms will develop, mainly near the mountains. Greater coverage of storms is expected through the weekend. Isolated severe storms are possible through the weekend, with strong wind gusts and localized flooding.
