A series of Pacific fronts will bring periodic waves of showers and thunderstorms to parts of the Great Basin and Pacific Northwest the next few days. Swells, high surf, dangerous rip currents and areas of coastal flooding continue along much of the East Coast from both Humberto and Imelda. This photo of large hail was taken by Spokane 16, Bob Lutz, in Otis Orchards on the afternoon of June 10th, 2003 after the passage of a severe thunderstorm. These ice balls ranged in size from 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches in diameter, or from quarter size to walnut size. A severe thunderstorm produces hail of at least 3/4 inch. |
