Soggy in the Pacific Northwest; Cool and Snowy in the Northeast

Periods of heavy rain on top of already saturated soils will lead to additional flooding and continued threats of landslides across western Washington. A series of weather systems originating in Canada will produce areas of snow and lake effect snow across the Great Lakes and Northeast. Here are some additional photos of snow rollers found near Medical Lake in eastern Washington on December 30th 2008 courtesy of Ron Trees. While these snow rollers are not as large and well defined as the Camas Prairie snow rollers, it is easier to visualize how each one initially develops with the right combination of wind and snow conditions.
