Heavy Rain in the Southeast; Wintry Mix from the Plains through the Ohio Valley

A storm system will bring a number impacts to the central and eastern US. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in the Gulf Coast and Deep South. Further north, a wintry mix may produce a glaze of ice from the Ozarks/Mid-South east through the Ohio Valley. Here are some additional photos of snow rollers found near Medical Lake in eastern Washington on December 30th 2008 courtesy of Ron Trees. While these snow rollers are not as large and well defined as the Camas Prairie snow rollers, it is easier to visualize how each one initially develops with the right combination of wind and snow conditions.
