Heavy Snow in the Central/Southern Rockies; Below Average Temperatures in the Central and Eastern US

Moderate to heavy snowfall is expected in the central/southern Rockies and adjacent High Plains today. Lake-enhanced snowfall is expected downwind of the Great Lakes today. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible this evening into tonight across the western Gulf Coast states. Satellite Dish

This is the satellite dish located next to the office. The satellite dish retrieves meteorological data. This data is then processed and used by forecasters to make the various products (such as the forecasts).

All of our products are then sent via a high speed line to a central distribution office, where products from all National Weather Service offices are made available to various users such as other government agencies, private weather companies, and the media.
