Temperatures will gradually warm each day this week, reaching the mid-to-upper 90s across the lower deserts around midweek and up to 100 degrees in the Phoenix Metro late-week. These temperatures result in widespread Minor to locally Moderate HeatRisk for those extremely sensitive to the heat, especially without effective cooling or adequate hydration.
Tropical moisture will begin streaming into the Desert Southwest late this week and persist through this weekend. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms will be possible with the focus starting across SE CA and W AZ on Thursday and shifting into central AZ this weekend. Rainfall amounts are highly uncertain at this time.
Monsoon season 2025 saw above normal/average rainfall across many sites around south-central AZ, SW AZ, and SE CA. Globe, AZ saw over an inch of rain above normal and Deer Valley, AZ saw over two inches of rain above normal.
All three climate sites finished the month with above normal rainfall and above normal average low temperatures. Phoenix finished with a near average high temperature while Yuma and El Centro finished with below normal average high temperatures. Phoenix and El Centro finished with slightly above normal mean temperatures while Yuma finished with a below normal mean temperature.
