Much of Utah saw a heightened risk of flash flooding this weekend, but the threat will only increase today. The Weather Prediction Center indicates a moderate (red, 3 out of 4) risk of flash flooding for southeastern portions of the area. These areas will be more prone to flash flooding than usual given already saturated soils. Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings!

UPDATE: Today's Flood Watch has been expanded to include the entire southern two-thirds of Utah. Showers and thunderstorms will become widespread again this afternoon, and any storms that develop will be capable of producing heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding. Those with outdoor plans in flood prone areas need to consider alternate plans. Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings!

A River Flood Advisory is in effect until midnight Tuesday for the Virgin River at Virgin. The river is expected to rise rapidly from 9.3 feet (654 cfs) to 17.9 feet (7857 cfs) by 6pm Monday, remaining elevated through the evening. The river is forecast to be above action stage but below flood stage.
